SQUADRONS

Although the real-life CVW-14 was home to numerous squadrons through its existence, VNAO has selected to represent the four squadrons listed below.

VF-11 THE RED RIPPERS

The VF-11 Red Rippers are an air superiority and air interception squadron, flying the F-14 Tomcat.  They have been given a secondary mission to support troops on the ground when all other objectives permit.  Pilots in this wing, however, are more experienced in air-to-air engagement than close air support.

VFA-115 EAGLES

Strike Fighter Squadron 115 is known as the “Eagles”, callsign “Talon”, a United States Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet strike fighter squadron stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni. Their tail code is NF.

VFA-147 ARGONAUTS

Strike Fighter Squadron 147, also known as the “Argonauts”, is a United States Navy strike fighter squadron based at Naval Air Station Lemoore, California. VFA-147 was established on 1 February 1967 and flies the F-35C Lightning II, becoming the first F-35 active strike squadron in US Naval history.
